Glossary of Ingredients
Achillea Millefolium
A North American plant that has been known and used by the aboriginals for thousands of years, to heal wounds, ulcers and injuries. Almond (Prunus Amygdalus)
Sweet almond oil is used to soften the skin; it softens and tones dry skins, calms itching, accelerates recovery from dermatosis and superficial burns. Bitter almond oil is used in some of our products, and has the reputation of helping freckles to disappear and to insure strict hygiene of armpit and feet. It is appreciated for its softening and hydrating properties in case of skin inflammation.

General or partial hair loss.
Amino Acid
A composite product, associating an acid and an amino function. Amino acids are the major components of proteins. They have reconditioning and healing properties for hair and skin.
Analgesic

Angelica (Angelica Archangelica)
In Asia, the reputation of this plant is only surpassed, and barely, by ginseng. Also named 'Feminine ginseng', angelica contains phyto - estrogen. It is rich in vitamins and mineral including vitamins A, B12, folic acid and E. The seeds from this plant are used as peeling in our soaps.

Arnica (Arnica Montana)
Known in the form of ointments and compresses to soothe contusions, sprains and muscular pains. It also stimulates blood circulation. As an anti - inflammatory, it accelerates resorption of haematomas. Avoid applying arnica on wounds and near the eyes or mouth. Externally, arnica extract is also used for sunburn, superficial burns and diaper rash.
Aromatherapy
The term 'aromatherapy' was first used in the 1920s by a French chemist, R.M Gattefosse. It means 'perfumed remedy'. Today, aromatherapy is defined as a treatment where plant essential oils are used to restore or improve health and beauty. These influences are felt in medicine, psychology and cosmetology. Research has proven that aromas affect our emotions. This is because olfactory nerves go directly from the nose to the rhinencephalon via the emotional centre of the brain. It is always important to appreciate the odour of the essential oil we use, because it will help our emotional equilibrium. Essential oils are much appreciated for their delicate aromas and for their deep effect on the skin. Virtually all types of skins may take advantage from the benefits of essential oils.
Astringent
A substance, which tightens tissues and reduces secretions.
Avocado (Persea Gratissima)
Avocado oil has many uses. Very complete in vitamins A, B, C, D, E, H, K, PP, it acts against ageing. It tones, softens and restructures the epidermis, and stimulates the scalp. As a protector, it repairs dry and very dry skins. Skin tolerance to avocado oil is very high; it does not irritate and may even be applied near the eyes. It helps to improve the softness, brightness, vitality and suppleness of the skin and hair after only a few days of use. This oil soothes the dryness sensation caused by certain types of skin affections (eczema).
Babassuamidopropalkonium Chloride
One of the softest quaternary ammonium salts, originating from fatty acids derived from the oil on a Brazilian Amazonian palm trees - the babassu (Orbignya oleifera). This raw material of natural origins has antistatic and conditioning properties for hair.

Balsam Fir (Abies Balsamea)
A resinous tree with evergreen needle shaped leaves, originally from the North America. Amerindians and colonists treated several diseases with balsam fir resin. Its essential oil (containing oleoresins) is obtained by distillation of its needles. It is used for its antiseptic, tonic and stimulating qualities. Used for chest frictions, balsam fir treats respiratory infections.
Bees Wax
A substance secreted by the wax glands of worker bees, to make the combs in their hives. Bee's wax is known for its film forming, moisturizing and protecting qualities, as well as cleansing properties for the skin and scalp.
Behentrimonium Methosulphate
The softest available disentangling conditioner. Derived from canola seed oil, in combination with the very soft methosulphate group (instead of chlorine; more economical and less irritating).
Bentonite (Bentonite)
When a volcano explodes, a vapour or fine mist is often liberated, containing a substance known as volcanic ash. Bentonite is volcanic ash. It is a natural powder used to absorb skin impurities.
Bitter Orange (Citrus Aurantium Amara)
This essential oil originates from distillation of sour orange tree leaves. It has tonic, deodorant and antiseptic properties.
Burdock (Arcticum Lappa)
Considered as a purifying plant. The root of this plant treats skin problems, especially in cases where an accumulation of toxins is a factor of the development of sickness such as acne, abscess, eczema and psoriasis. For hair care, burdock extract is used to slow down hair loss.
Camomile (Chamaemelum Nobile)
An odorant plant, which is sweetening, antiseptic, moisturizing, anti - inflammatory and healing. It also has relaxing and deodorant properties. Camomile infusion is used for face and hair care. It is a good remedy against hair loss and gives blond hair new lustre. Camomile essential oil is recommended for sensitive skin. It is one of the main essential oils well tolerated by children. Diffusing in the atmosphere, camomile essential oil reduces allergies and favours harmony; it also reduces irritability and favours sleep for children.
Camphor (Cinnamomum Camphora)
Camphor essential oil is a general tonic, antiseptic and anti - inflammatory, analgesic, heating, bactericide, antiviral and activates blood circulation. It also has a decongestant action on the respiratory tract and enters in the composition of balms for chest massage or aching muscles.
Candelilla Wax (Euphorbia Cerifera)
A vegetable wax collected on the surface of the candelilla bush leaves. These bushes mainly develop in the Coahila and Chihuahuan deserts along the border of the United States and Mexico. In cosmetic formulations, its role is to bring sufficient hardness to sticks or to thicken the fatty part of emulsions.
Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides
Derived from palm or coconut oil, used only as an emulsifier and emollient.
Caramel
The word 'Caramel' is originally a Spanish word, from the Latin cannamella, 'Sugar cane'. It dates from the first uses of sugar cane in confectionery. Caramel is a product exclusively obtained from the heating of saccharine or other hydro soluble sugars; it is used in our products as a natural coloring agent.
Carnauba Wax (Copernica Cerifera)
Produced from the leaves of a Brazilian palm tree, slowing down water evaporation contained in the plant and avoids dehydration. Carnauba wax is used as a consistence agent for lip balm, massage oils and creams.
Carrot (Daucus Carota)
One of the most precious vegetables for man, the carrot is rich especially in vitamin A. Also rich in folic acid, carotene, vitamin C and pectin. It contains many mineral salts: iron, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, manganese. It rejuvenates tissues and skin. Carrot oil has sweetening, anti - ageing and purifying properties. It is used for body and face care, because it rejuvenates the skin and has the reputation of reducing stains and wrinkles appearing with age.
Castor Oil (Ricinus Communis)
This oil, obtained after cold pressing of seeds, is rich in ricinoleic acid from glycerides. Castor oil is used in several cosmetic products because of its softening, protecting, nourishing, emollient and regenerating cosmetic epidermis and phanera (capillary tonic). Very rich in natural vitamin E, it is an excellent ally to combat the skin ageing.
Cedar (Thuya Occidentalis)

Its essential oil, produced from leaf distillation, is used as an anti - inflammatory, analgesic and relaxing.
Cellulite

Cellulose Gum

Cetearyl Glucoside
Emulsifying wax, pleasant and non - irritating, obtained from corn sugar and a mixture of fatty alcohols (made from cetylic and stearic alcohol) derived from coconut oil. It is also used as an emulsion emollient, thickener and stabilizer.
Cetrimonium Chloride
A quaternary soft ammonium salt produced from fatty acids derived from palm and coconut oil. This natural origin raw material has antistatic, conditioning, tonic and untangling properties for hair.
Cetyl Alcohol
Fatty alcohol, produced from palm oil and coconut oil. Cetyl alcohol is used as an emulsifying, thickening, conditioning agent and as an emulsion stabilizer. Used in creams. It leaves a silky sensation on the skin.

Chlorophyll
All plants, except mushrooms are capable of using the sun's energy to fabricate their own food. This function, called photosynthesis, is a biological process during which solar energy is used to produce organic composites, carbohydrates and oxygen from carbon dioxide and water. In this process, chlorophyll (the green pigment inside the plant) absorbs light energy to convert it in chemical energy; it is the main assimilating light pigment. It also has cleaning, purifying and deodorant properties. Many authors consider that chlorophyll gives back the solar energy that is has accumulated. DRUIDE chlorophyll is extracted from the purest alfalfa (Medicago sativa).

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum Zeylanicum)

Climbing Ivy (Hedera Helix)

Coco - Betaine

A large Australian tree, with very fragrant pointed leaves. The eucalyptus is a very efficient general antiseptic to cure colds, influenza, sinusitis and bronchitis. Eucalyptus essential oil is antiseptic, balsamic, stimulating, tonic, healing, deodorant. It lowers or prevents fever.
Exfoliant

Extract
A product obtained from fresh or dry plants, through active principle dissolution with solvents (water, vegetable glycerine, vegetable oils) to a needed concentration.
Facial Lotion
